Eating and Winston Salem

2 days before he reached 6 months (today-April 28), Otto ate solid food-rice cereal-for the first time.  He ate the cereal like he's been doing it all his life.  It turns out Otto is a natural born eater.  Trevor, Gramps, and I all took turns feeding him and he ate every bit without problem.  Another big milestone happened in North Carolina.  Otto sat in a high chair for the first time.  It was very exciting to eat at a restaurant with out Otto on my lap.  He seemed to enjoy it and grabbed everything in sight.  And now he has been sitting in high chairs ever since.  We visited Old Salem and got a photo of Otto in front of some lamb's ears (which I am currently trying to grow in our garden).  We also went to the Children's Museum which was super cool but geared for kids a bit older than Otto.  Still we had lots of fun watching the kids play, tried out a few toys ourselves and ended the afternoon in the reading room.  Our trip was a great one.   

APRIL 19-OTTO CAN SIT!!!!

Well well well!!!!  A new milestone.  Otto is officially sitting.  On April 19th he was nailing it every time.  He would tip every now and again but he would catch himself.  What a champ.  I also added a few photos of our afternoon at the Red Lion Inn-a German pub.  We had a great tim eating sausage and drinking hefeweizen.   Otto even attempted a sip!

april events

We've had a fun month so far.  Cori, James, Andreas, and Sophia came to visit for spring break.  Trevor took everyone to Venice (I had to work) and they all had a great time.  We had lots of big dinners and great times.  Trevor, Otto and I went to a little bbq over at Chelsea, Andrew, and Beau's house.  Otto and Beau met for the first time and they were instant friends.  Beau grabbed Otto's pacifier out of his mouth and he didn't blink an eye.  Already a lady's man!!!  We've also been spending lots of time with Bob who is moving back east this month.  Boo.  We will miss Bob a ton but are so glad to have spent so much time together lately.

A few of our favorite things

Trevor and I want to remember some of the fun things Otto does so we thought we'd list a few here.  He laughs hysterically when we bop him and anyone else on the head with a little balloon on a stick.  It's amazing.  We can always tell how excited he is by how far he sticks his hands in his mouth.  He sometimes gives us a little laugh while his pacifier is in his mouth and it sounds a bit like HEEEEGH.  He blows bubbles and makes raspberry noises with his mouth.  His yawns are very loud and almost sound like a fake put on yawn.  He likes to "push push push" with his legs while he is in the tub and it seems like he is going to push right through the end of the tub.  He likes to fall asleep in Trevor's arms by burying his face in a little pocket between Trevor's arm and chest.  We love our mornings with Otto-Trevor and I ask him about his dreams and he babbles the answers.  He is very talkative these days.  We like to play and make him sit and stand and swing him around in bed.  And even though it makes us sad Otto's sad face is adorable.  His bottom lip really does poke out.  But mostly we don't want to forget the way his face lights up when we walk into the room.  

new adventures

We've had another busy week.  We went to see Dennis Hopper receive a star on Hollywood's walk of fame.  It was such a nice afternoon and Otto was in great spirits.  He met Dennis who has a German Shepherd also named Otto.  Then on Saturday Otto, Trevor, Gram and I went to see Aunt Mindy in her horse show in Temecula.  She was a rock star and did amazingly well in all 3 events and Otto LOVED meeting her for the first time.  We got home around 1:30 am and miraculously we woke up at 7:30am and headed out to the poppy reserve with the Deightons and ate a very hearty breakfast at CRAZY OTTO'S!  Trevor bought 5 t-shirts and the poppies were really lovely.  It was a great way to spend Otto's last week as a 4 month old.
